Viral Case of Sexual Assault on Train, KAI: Case Closed

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian train operator Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI) commented on the sexual assault that happened onboard one of its trains from Jakarta to Surabaya on Monday, April 22, 2019.
The case that was revealed through an emotional social media post made by the victim herself on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. On Twitter, explanation of the case posted by @xrybqby has been re-tweeted up to 23 thousand times and replied by 788 accounts.
Responding to the public outcry and support for the victim's justice, PT KAI VP public relations Edy Kuswoyo said that the case has been solved by both parties.
"The perpetrator apologized and both agree to resolve it in a family manner and will not process it further," said Edy in a written statement to Tempo on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
Edy claimed that settlement was witnessed by the train’s conductor and railroad police (Polsuska) tasked that night. Following the incident, the perpetrator was let off at Stasiun Cepu at around 03:34 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The incident happened when user @xrybqby was sleeping in a seat when suddenly the perpetrator held her hands and continued on to kiss and sniff her arm. This made the victim uncomfortable, and in shock, attempted to return to her initial position.
However, her actions only made the perpetrator rub his hands on the victim's stomach and arms and even went as far as to lead the victim's hand under his pants, in an attempt to touch his genitals.
